Spinner Publications staff are excited to be a part of the 20mi2 project, and will host a free panel discussion celebrating New Bedford’s and colonial America's most important entrepreneur of color, titled “Paul Cuffe: Entrepreneur,” on Saturday, June 11th, at the Wamsutta Club, from 5pm to 7pm.
Spinner Publications is a non-profit publishing house based in New Bedford. Their mission is to record and promote the history and culture of the cities and towns of southeastern New England. They do this primarily through the publication of books and curation of thei collections.

Rain Gutter Regatta
The New Bedford Art Museum/ArtWorks! ArtMobile and Local Artist Devin "Nived" McLaughlin will be on site to help you make a small boat out of recycled materials!
Afterwards you can race your boat against others in the Rain Gutter Regatta, organized by the Azorean Maritime Heritage Society and Community Boating Center.

Wellness Retreat: Open House
The team at Sangha New Bedford Yoga & Healing Arts Community, led by Cofounders Jeff Costa and Howard Klein, will host an Open House that begins with Sangha Community Yoga at 9am followed by mini-treatment sessions of Reiki, Aromatherapy, Energy Healing and Ayurveda with Certified Practitioners, concluding with a 30 minute “Call and Response” Kirtan of chanting accompanied by live Harmonium and percussion. All are welcome and no previous experience is required.

Family Morning Out Launch at Andrea McCoy Recreation Center
Welcoming all families to come and enjoy the Andrea McCoy Recreation Center (AMRC) facility for a FREE family morning out! Come celebrate the re-opening of the AMRC for special “Family Morning Out” hours on Saturday mornings from 9:00am-12:00pm. Check out all of the fun activities that will be available to families every Saturday morning at the AMRC. They will be offering basketball, dodgeball, GA-GA ball, Indoor Imagination Playground, Ping-Ping, Foosball, and more!

Yoga Es Vida, founded by Tahais Martins, is excited to offer yoga classes in Spanish catering to the Spanish community and to those in our community who wish to experience yoga in a different language. Join the 1850’s ladies at the New Bedford Whaling National Historical Park Garden as they share how the whaling industry brought people from all over the world to New Bedford. The Ladies will introduce you to some of the people and cultures here in 19th century New Bedford.
1850s ladies, aka Ruth and Abby, is a living history program of New Bedford Whaling National Historical Park. It is a program used to educate the public and convey a sense of the everyday life of women in New Bedford during the prosperous whaling era.

Colossal commUNITY Table for 500
The 20mi2 Ideation Team, in collaboration with the College of Visual & Performing Arts (CVPA) and the Zeiterion Performing Arts Center (The Z), are creatively setting a table for 500 guests on Purchase Street, from Union Street to School Street. Bring your picnic from home or grab some take-out from any number of yummy eateries downtown and come have a seat at our commUNITY table. You’ll be delighted and surprised by a number of performances and installations that’ll surround you.
Anomaly Poetry Open Mic Night
Anomaly Poetry is back in live-action at the Co-Creative Center in Downtown New Bedford! Artists will have five minutes each to read their original poetry, prose and short works. Sign-ups start at 7PM, reading will start at 7:15.

Queerness in Comics with Artist Kate Sheridan
What does LGBTQIA+ representation in comic books look like? Join the New Bedford Whaling National Historical Park and their Artist in Residence, Kate Sheridan, to explore this topic and find out more about censorship in comic books.
Kate Sheridan, in residence April through June, is an illustrator and writer based in Louisville, KY. During their residency, they will create Whalebones, a comic anthology of interconnected stories set in the New Bedford area and areas abroad related to its history (the Pacific and the Arctic) that combines elements of history, folklore, and horror. It examines love, pain, and grief during the whaling era.
