The Rotch-Jones-Duff House & Garden Museum was founded in 1985 and is a National Historic Landmark and registered at the Massachusetts Historic Preservation Office, National Register of Historic Places. It includes an 1834 mansion designed by Richard Upjohn and one-acre of gardens. Exhibitions on the three families and the workers which inhabited the home convey stories about New Bedford's history, life in the 19th and 20th centuries, and whaling’s impact on the world. The Museum offers general visitation, group tours, events and education programs year-round. RJD also serves the local schools with curriculum-related field trips.
